finally got down to watching lust, caution
i think it's pretty good. the ending was sad and i felt that it tugged at the heartstrings of the audience, and me of course. it felt kinda similar to brokeback mountain, despite all the hype abt gay theme and acrobatic stunts, there's a simple underlying sad theme to both movies, which is v moving, and it's the beauty of these recent films by lee ang. there were a couple of strong n memorable scenes which i like, how wangjiazhi was shocked by Yee's reflection in the window, how i could hear the clock struck ten times in the final scene... making me hold my breath and counting the ding-dongs.. and w Yee tearing, his eyes being the only part of his face clearly seen with the slit of light cast on his face. how all that was left in the end were the creases on the sheets of her empty bed, made by one single person.
do women make good spies? do women who received ridiculously huge diamond rings make good spies? will women who are emotional creatures let love, lust and no caution get better of them? haaa
nice movie :)

just came bk from changi airport, sending the yunnan 07 team off.. :) aww, every year when i send them off, i wish i was going with them. but somehow i never got down to going after year 1...
went to visit T3 with peiyun... it's really empty still, and its has got lotsa green plants... i think it needs more flowers to brighten up the place.. mayb they hafnt ship them in for easy maintenance? haaa love the feel of the airport, esp during christmas.. reminds me of Love Actually.. was so tempted this morning, to just bring my passport along and hop on any plane to go anywhere w/o planning.. but in reality we cant just drop everything n go on such an escapade can we? probably not. this strong urge was reinforce by the show i'm watching, My Girl.. which is a nice korean drama where the interesting female lead likes to do strange things, just for the heck of it.. haaaa thnx to py for recommending me the show. i highly recommend it too!! :)

today's first lecture at snec showed a slide on corneal ulcer from contact lens. i just woke up from a nightmare n found that i had a cornea ulcer that was discharging. as i was leaving to see the doctor, cause the dr says it's an emergency must go to see doc immed, i woke up from that dream to find myself in my room hurriedly feeling my eyes. phew. sometimes wat i learn in sch fry my brains.

watched the movie enternal summer - 盛夏光年。 although it has a gay theme.. i felt that it was a pretty touching movie, abt childhood insecurities, friendship, love, growing up - how everything changes once you grow up. the open ended ending left me kinda sad.. but i mean it will just depends on the audience's own interpretion. i think shane will never love jonathan the way he loves him. oh n the cool thing abt their names, it's suppose to mean 行星，恒星，彗星。

just got back from a piano recital concert at raffles hotel. it was really enjoyable seeing piano students perform and my personal favourite was nicholas' wo ke yi.. somehow it was full of expression and kinda touching. the others were really good too and they are pretty inspiring.. makes me wanna play better. the compere is a joker but i think he's really has got guts n wit to keep us entertained for more than 2 hrs haha
and the company was great too, i really enjoy my fellowship w these frens i somehow got to know from YN trip.. :)

anaessthesia was fun, but it's one posting that i kept apologizing for the silly mistakes i make and kept getting shouted at. but i understand that my mentor n tutors only wanted us to do better and buck up. but long hrs in the OT became pretty enjoyable because i had a really funny tutor. when me n py were trying to leave DOT for lecture, we said our goodbye n walked into the last door on the right, thinking tt it was the scrub room. our tutor followed behind us and repeated said his goodbyes loudly and enthusiastically. i was getting q suspicious why he was acting strangely until py realized tt there is only a cupboard in place of where the door shud be. when we turned ard aft we realized we were in the wrong place, our tutor was actually closing the door, pretending to lock us into the storeroom, laughing his head off!?! where to find such a gaoxiao senior con? hai.. haa as we hurried out of the room feeling really embarrassed, all he did was kept whispering, "dont worry, i wont tell anyone, haa" he followed behind us all the way till he reached the pantry, laughing NON STOP at both of us. HAI... but i'll miss him when this posting ends.

another strange thing tt happened was while hiding behind the tiny screen to avoid II during an ortho op, some ortho big-shot prof hiding behind me n my tutor actually told me, tt woah u've got broad shoulders.. i was like ?!? huh? n my mentor turned ard to tell his tt he didnt notice, issit really true? n asked me if i did bench press.. haa i was like erm.. yea well i did last time n he just started exclaiming.. u actually do bench press??!? then the ortho prof went on to ask if i were a swimmer or sumthing, but i just told him i did judo i sch last time..
i felt really strange to be stuck in btw 2 old men, hiding behind a tiny screen trying not to get zapped by xrays, discussing abt my broad shoulders. sigh.

first day at ot doing anaesthesia and i really enjoyed it :) hope it's the beginning of a great posting. i really love my mentor.. he's a v nice n funny guy who put in alot of effort to teach me py n his MO. how he held our hands to bag/mask/intubate/put in the LMA, it's like apprenticeship. i think it was also nice when the mo dr F told another senior doc who commented that he was finally taking students too, that he's just teaching us the stuff he learnt from the senior doc last time.
was in ortho OT and watched a TKR n THR, although it's a pity we dint manage to pay much attention to the OP, but the surgeon was dr T, one of the nice tutors i like frm NUH previously.. haa he actually came to tok to us the 2 crazy girls who previously gaped at him and hurried off after meeting him along the corridor, and he was just chatting w us and seeing how we're doing. this reminded me of how me n a cgmate kinda did an embarrassing "side-step-dancing" stunt yest, w another doc T from nuh ortho days, tt i like too haa.. :p

watched hero with some of my cgmates this morning, and i really enjoyed it. reminded me of my growing up days watching jap dramas and how much i've come to love them. i like the way the movie made alot of references to the original drama, cause i like the familiarity of it all. i like it when each story has got a moral behind it, just like every single episode of hero had a moral behind it.
the characters are v likeable, kimura's my fav jap actor and lee byung hun is my fav korean actor.. so \^_^/ yay! haaa i love all the characters kimura plays, kuryu kohei's unique air, him coming to work in jeans, his orange jacket, his turtleneck and leather jack when he appears in court. *faints* i like kimura+ matsutakako combi.. since love generation donkey years ago.. lee byung hun appeared for a few pathetic minutes, i wish there were more of him in the show.. but his voice is so distinctive, i cud recog it from the phonecalls he makes w his collegues, way before he appeared on screen haaa..
the minor characters were the original from the drama, with the chief looking like prof pho, the judge with his endearing eyebags, the prosecutor in charge of corruption looking like dr T.loh, and tamori-san! haaa when he appeared as the bad guy, i cudnt help but laugh cause i rem him from his music station days where he's damn funny.. but this time the bad guy wasnt a funny guy, but i still cant help but laugh at him n his shades.

a pity that they didnt use back the ending ost of the hero drama.. otherwise the ending would have felt complete :)

today was the first time i saw an autopsy, i only looked on from the viewing gallery cause my turn to go in is tmr. the 2 sentences from the chorus of this song came to me.. after watching the whole process of evisceration and returning the viscera back in, it feels like our body just a transient hollow "luggage" containing us, or bits of us. and when a person passes on, what's left behind feels kind of empty. feels abit sad too, cause on one side of the door i watched the autopsy of this patient, and on the other side of the door i see his family gathering, looking distraught, i saw resemblance of him in this guy on the other side of the door (not sure if i imagined it) life is short transient n precious. towards the end, there's an uncanny resemblance to the beginning, family medicine taught me the phrase, "from cradle to grave". birth and death are these 2 miraculous transition time zones that defines our existence in this world, with respect to the people ard us, only they can prove that we've been here.

patho feels very daunting and all these OSCAs and tutors have time and again proven that i cant rem much of those stuff i've studied for in yr 2.. but i must say it has gotten alot more interesting after clinical exposure, such that we correlate much better with our patients' conditions...

today was an exciting day cause i got to scrub up for an wedge excision of L lobe of thyroid. then we had class foto! for the first time in 4 yrs and it felt like we were bk in sec sch/jc again.. haaa then as we were leaving nuh, kx n yw spotted a patient trying to leave nuh w/o slippers or anything else on him except the ward baju. it was an exciting experience we my frens trying to stall him frm running away and some of us walking ard the nuh compound to look for security guards tt care enough to do something.. then there was zai nurse frm gynae onco clinic w ard 5 sentences managed to convince uncle to go bk to hosp w her.. wheew then there was good food w our special fren muriel, me py dawn kx yw @ maxwell market yummy! and walking by PLAY - the memorable place and coming home.. i'm so tired and behind for my ENT reading! and after popping an antihistamine.. i wont be staying awake for too long haaa

haha i've finally finished the series on tudou.. despite the bad ratings and review that i've heard abt GooogS, i actually quite enjoyed the show.. the first look at the cast wasnt impressive at all, but i think they're actors and actresses that ll grow on u.. as u watch the characters in the drama, i actually changed my opinion of them.. think they're pretty good.
the storyline wasnt as interesting or funny or romantic as Goong, but i kinda like the contests the princes gotta go thru to become the next in line for the throne..

meeting up w 405mates for lunch was nice.. and Playhouse was fantastic.. i really enjoyed myself and kept laughing thruout our whole play.. think our M4 batch is really cool and the ideas were damn creative and funny. great job guys! i'm so proud of u guys.. haaa

went to check out timbre @ the arts house w xiangyun last night.. cause we went early enough, we got this nice comfy sofa seat in front of the band.. the light breeze and the singapore river made it a pretty nice place to chill out. our roasted duck pizza was really nice, which was a pleasant surprise and me n my dear pengyou since our single-digit-age days had a good time just talking and enjoying our drink. heard abit of EIC, the band tt comes on saturdays.. not too bad :) and we actually ran into the Halloween bus crowd! they're so cool.. there was MARIO! elvis random ghosts vampires injuredpple haaa the crowd was v interesting and we wished we were at some halloween party too. then we had our nice milk before heading home..

last day of hols.. i'll miss it :'(

this is a book i bought for myself using the kino vouchers i got as birthday present, as ser recommended it to me.. cause she think i would like it.
i did enjoy the book.. it's interesting enough till the end, i like the idea of Shinamoto-san being such a mysterious lady and till the end of the story i was really wondering were did she go to, who is she, what kinda life does she lead? the idea of his little jazz bar at aoyama is nice, wish i could visit there and try one of his cocktails :) she likes diaquiri (like ah tan n me). this book being a translation of a jap novel, sometimes i could just imagine how bits of their conversation would sound like in japanese.. haa maybe i should find the jap version to look at the choice of words..

i've just got home not too long ago from a judogirls night out.. first time i'm drinking w all of them! from fajitas to burritos to chimichangas tt i tried today, i enjoyed my chimichanga! ;)altho it's kinda pricey.. and we drank to our fill w margaritas, and tried the la cucaracha and mars bar!! yummy hee
then we head off to LUNAR haa.. the red chairman mao upstairs is real cute! :) oh my tian.. my first time in a mandopop place.. it was q an interesting experience, and we kinda converted it to a mini kbox session by singing along w all the concert clips they screened before the shanghai-night performances started.. damn cheena.. the drinks are pretty jialat but i shant complain, cause free entry and one free drink for each of us so we hang out there w/o paying a single cent..

it's been such a long time since we got such good attendance.. too bad huiyi cudnt join us.. realize hope much i miss my judogirls.. must go out soon! :)

swimming w manny n carol yest, playing w the SLIDE and jacuzzi (i haf TWO legs! woohoo!!) and sitting under a mushroom were fun!! miss them so much, but i'll see them a while. :D then there was a stayover w huay and us going to zouk last nite.. altho we dint stay for long, but it was pretty fun la.. met one of my cgmates too! :)

today's osce was scary... the palpitations and chest tightness that i get before exams can get quite traumatizing but during the exam all u can do is keep thinking abt wat to say, before u open the clinic door and instantaneously turn into a professional and competent doctor who manages a patient. and well u can feel hungry as well, cause my stomach kept growling. the osces are very practical as they are exactly wat docs do in clinics and delivery suites.. but all i can feel abt my performance is that i need to work alot harder cause i still have a really long way from becoming a true and competent doctor. one more week. 3 more days of exams and FINALLY my long awaited hols. good luck to all my frens taking exams next wk!

my laptop died a few days ago and as usual i was angry n snappy but it's times like these tt i'm grateful to have my bros. my erge calmly say he'll fixed it and i was pleasantly surprised tt he reformatted and reinstalled stuff for me such tt i haf a functional laptop again. thnx.

thurs was a day i revisited my 2 most emotionally-draining posting. which included psy and paeds. attended some suicide talk w a handful of classmates that revisited the topic of depression and teenage suicide. we learnt it like a topic in school but at the same time it feels pretty real and close to heart. then went over the ward 48 to clerk this great family, who are very kind to share w us about their experience of having a kid with osteogenesis imperfecta. what parents go through to take care of their child is not something everyone can do. it takes so much courage and love and it left a huge impression on me.

now Obs n Gynae is drawing to an end and tension is really building up!
it's been a fun posting so far, but i really need all tt i have to finish the last bit of the race. jiayou to everyone. :)

i had alot of fun today.. thnx to my 3 great partners in the smrt challenge!
we came in 9th, out of 270 participants and also won the treasurehunt-luckydraw thingy, making our team $500-tangs-voucher richer.. haa which worked out to be $125 per person. :)
altho we didnt come in first to win the $3000 worth of cash but i'm proud we completed the race at 5:38:44 -25min(merit pts) = 5:13:44!!

we finished the race w lots of cheer, grace and integrity being v courteous n safe haa so it was a great experience for all of us :)
chekwun (ourleader) n his vast knowledge of smrt transport never fails to impress me, jenheng w his clue-solving n rap-writing skills, wenhann just kept running haa and erm well i only had to run along n guard the passport n clue w my dear life. so i tink i had the simplest task of all :P

our cg never had a foto w all of us in it.. so here's an attempt to have a photo w all our phones in it.. but ALAS! jianhong's phone is missing cause in kkh ONG, he got separated from us and became **** 的人 :p
it all started one fateful day when darren showed us Rabi hanging on his phone.. subsequently it spiraled out of control as me n yingwei started our insatiable desire to own these jack n jill collectables.. we manage to eat enuff to ensure everyone in our cg at least has one haha. then we go on to insist tt it's a cg identity and forced them upon our poor cgmates who eventually came to get used to/like them haaa....
hai 1.5 more posting left w this cg tt has been together for almost a yr.. it's been so fun i cant realli imagine life w/o them.. but come think of it, i feel this way for my other 2 previous cgs as well.. so life still goes on right? haa

altho today is monday, it feels like a fri. hai feeling so drained, prob due to the fact tt i was bk in kkh both on sat n sun.. but the deliveries were worth it.. exciting stuff to help bring babies to this world haa

went to laoxu's concert yest.. "Re: This Coming Summer =)" it was great! they sang really well and it was v entertaining too haha it's good to see familiar faces, like meddies and old frens frm rg n rj.. cause it's kinda the pple in rj chorale frm my batch. i kinda counted, we're J6!! heard this junior coming how old they're being J5s and i just rolled my eyes like ahem, exxccusse me got older folks here can. haa but saw seniors too so cant compare to them of coz.. but i had a great time.

Starry, starry night (Vincent)

3 weeks into ONG and i'm enjoying it. although i still feel helpless and stupid all the time but i think it's a very cool subject. my first observed delivery was an incredible experience.. i dont think i'll ever forget it in my life. see how a little baby wriggle her way out to this world.. w the mummy trying her very best. the pain, sweat, screams, tears all seemed worth it when u hear the first cry. how me kx n yw ll congratulate each other each time a baby's born. it's really a miracle. assisted my first delivery today, with the help of kind nurse C... and got to know the parents abit more, while we chat in btw contractions.. and to our pleasant surprise the dad came bk to the delivery suite w the large paper bags, containing of chocolates and mooncakes to thank us! he really didnt need to, haa but thnx to him the staff got a nice treat! :) saw my first LSCS too.. another amazing procedure.. but of course we need to be competent as well, to deal w cases like the lady w ecclampsia on friday morning.. need to study harder!

RGgirls night out @ cafe iguana.. serene xinyi crystal and me! :) we had our fill of margaritas thnx to the happyhr discount haa.. had a great time! take care girls!

to all my teachers, happy teachers' day!
i've learnt alot and had alot of fun in school for as long as i can remember, and i bet teachers played a huge role in it as well. i bet i wont be where i am now without them, so i'll always remember them n be very grateful to them all! :)

yest was a great day i think.. :) the thing tt's been giving me lotsa bad vibes has finally been settled.. thnx to prof, which i'll always remember for his kindness. :) altho me n kx spent a total 2 hrs travelling to n fro btw 2 hospitals but it's alright.. we manage to catch a nice hugh bowel of mango icekacang! then there was an hr of nonstop laughter w my dear cg mates in the med student computer room, where there was a i'll-make-u-incontinent-urogynae-wannabe and harry-yw-potter! haaa of coz we bet the medical director n the secretaries of Obgyn were laughing their heads off too. Shout: abruptio PLACENTAE! haa then there was a nice lecture by dr Q - darren's longlost relative which was v informative.. and i met up w my dear judo girls! i miss them alot! and it's real nice to meet up w them all.. it's always cool to have never-ending conversation topics with them and to catch up w our lives.. cya guys real soon!
